What this site covers

People’s Press News reports on the ownership of American media, the measurement of its audience, and the rules both sit under. Three subjects, one question: who holds the licence, who holds the archive, and what the numbers say about who is watching.

Every figure on the site is attributed to the body that published it — Medill’s State of Local News, Nielsen’s The Gauge, an FCC order, a company filing, a court docket — and carries the date it was taken inside the sentence that uses it.

The sections are Counties, Watching, Licences, The Archive and Before Cable. The full list of pieces sits on one page.
